Riding horses

Riding horses is peaceful. It took seconds to toss a blanket on Mollie’s back with a saddle. The bridle was a piece of cake. Then off we go. I can still hear her pounding hoofs against the pavement. It was like a smooth tapping song. Whatever direction I turned she trotted. Up hills, through shallow creeks, past football playing classmates, she never complained.
There were times I urged her to run fast. The wind would fly past my ears and dance past my shoulder blades. I felt so free! There’s not much not to like about the country.
I miss the peace, my family, my freedom and the comfort of home.
